Hawaii IIEOS/DLNR and Intelesense Collaborate for Conservation

06-04-08 -- HONOLULU

Intelesense today announced a contract with the University of Hawaii Institute for Integrated Earth Observing Systems (IIEOS) in collaboration with the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Forestry and Wildlife.

This Water Quality Monitoring for Land Conservation Project seeks to bring together current watershed data and information (including past and current field surveys, water quality monitoring projects, land management practices information, other relevant informational sources, etc). The project will produce new water quality field data linked to land conservation practices done throughout a watershed including information/data at the headwaters of a stream system, conservation zoned practices, agricultural conservation practices and impacts on coral reefs systems. Intelesense will provide integrated GIS tools and hosting of DLNR data, develop a custom user portal and provide sensors for monitoring water and stream flow.

“This important project with DLNR and IIEOS directly illustrates and leverages the core capabilities of Intelesense”, said Dr Montgomery, CEO of Intelesense, “by integrating data from sensors, GIS data, human impact such as land use and conservation practices and providing that in an easy to use domain-specific interactive visualization portal, we all can work together to truly understand human-environmental interactions that impact us all.”
