04-01-06 -- MILPITAS
Intelesense TechnologiesTM has developed the world's first self-contained, self-powered, ruggedized videoteleconferencing device, called InteleVideo. This device, the size of a small suitcase, has an integrated video screen and camera for doing Internet-based videoteleconferencing in the field. The device has a range of up to 14 miles LOS, bandwidth of up to 1.5 Mbps, is completely self-powered with solar recharge, and extremely easy to use. In addition, it supports an internal 802.11b WiFi access point to create a WiFi hotspot in the local area."With this device, a remote clinic or other facility can be on the Internet and thus connected to the world- with video, voice (VOIP), and transmission of clinical data, all in one self-powered, easy-to-use device", said Dr Kevin Montgomery, CEO of Intelesense, "InteleVideo will help further our goal of projecting medical expertise to anywhere in the globe". The system can also be used for remote teletraining, teleconsultation, and other applications.
Intelesense was spun off from Stanford University in early 2005 and has corporate offices in Honolulu, Hawaii with research and development offices in Silicon Valley, California and field offices with collaborative partners in deployment zones worldwide. Current projects range from protecting some of the most beautiful and biodiverse places on our planet, tracking emerging infectious diseases to ensure public health, and helping people from around the world connect and interact with each other and better understand their environment and themselves.
