The Intelesense Vision

Intelesense is about connecting people- people to the environment and people to each other.

Intelesense was born out of such a connection. Two research engineers from Stanford University connected with two research scientists from the University of Hawaii in one of the most amazing places on the planet- the deep, remote valleys on the island of Kauai.  The engineers felt and understood the deep connection that the scientists and people had for this amazing place and wanted to use their energies to help people protect these incredible places for future people to see.

As they learned more about this place and the deep respect that Hawaiian culture placed on connection to the land, they learned the deeper values that drove these cultures embodied the same spirit of their core values:

  • Kokua (Helping) – the responsibility and eagerness to help- to be part of the solution
  • Kuleana (Responsibility) – being responsible for your role and taking this seriously
  • Pono (Doing right) – Do the right thing
  • Lokahi (Harmony) – Unity, living in balance
  • Malama (Stewardship) – taking care of the land and each other
  • Hiki No (Can do) – being enthusiastic and positive in what you do

These ideas are not abstract, but concrete examples of what one should do in their daily life, in their work, and in their relationships with others.

Over time, we realized that people don't just affect their environment, but the reverse is true too. So, we began to use our technology to help there as well- from water-borne illness, detecting infectious disease and providing remote healthcare.

In general, the concept is simple.  We have a responsibility to protect the environment and its people.  Intelesense is about making an impact- it's much more than a business, it's our mission- to use technology to protect and preserve our environment and ourselves, because we are all connected.

Hiki No!
